Updated: Nov 25, 2019

Airmaster, GJK and RMIT are proud to have won the Collaborative Partnership Award at last night’s 2019 FM Industry Awards for Excellence. The FM Industry Awards for Excellence recognises the facilities management’s work to ensure the safety, security and sustainability of Australia’s built environment.

The highly collaborative team approach by Airmaster, GJK and RMIT focused on a shift towards a comprehensive innovative maintenance model with the aim of implementing a safer, simple, smarter building operations and create a service and innovation culture within RMIT.

In 2017, RMIT reached the stage where full consolidation of Facilities Management services could occur with a view to appointing a single principal vendor to cover the Australian based campuses. This also presented an opportunity to explore innovation and hybrid models offered by the market.

To manage this project Airmaster, GJK Facilities Management underwent significant changes in how their customer service was delivered, management compliance and their asset management practices. These positive steps ensured Airmaster, GJK had the ability to manage the property maintenance, cleaning, hard services (Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulics & Fire), grounds maintenance, mailroom & courier services, hygiene and pest removals, waste management, removalist and off-site storage services, and life safety & evacuation services across the RMIT campuses.

An open transparency within the Partnership has allowed for the parties to work together to meet core values of service excellence, cost efficiency & effectiveness, continuous improvement & innovation, and sustainability. The project’s success was only achievable with the collaboration of strategic partners, with an open mind and an appetite for change and with the view that new ideas can lead to a successful outcome.
