Chadstone The Fashion Capital today revealed the first and most significant phase of its $660 million development, to deliver a premium customer experience across luxury, fashion and general retail, together with an enhanced entertainment and dining offer.
Airmaster is proud to be involved in this major redevelopment. Having provided Service and Maintenance services at Chadstone since 1987, the Airmaster team have been working closely with Vicinity Centres to ensure minimal disruption to the Centre throughout the works, as well developing major infrastructure and systems for Chadstone and many of their well-known tenants.
This first phase will feature new international flagship stores, more than 60 new retail stores, a new dining terrace and food gallery, and a new state of-the-art HOYTS cinema complex spanned by an iconic glass gridshell roof, the first of its kind in Australia.
Mr Angus McNaughton, CEO and Managing Director of Vicinity Centres, said: “Already Australia’s pre-eminent shopping destination, Vicinity and Gandel Group embarked on a project to evolve Chadstone and take it beyond being the best in fashion and general retail, to now offer a premium customer experience extending across shopping, entertainment and dining.
“The development has been under construction for more than two years and is set to mark one of the largest milestones in Chadstone’s 56-year history, reinforcing its position as Australia’s number one shopping destination.” The development will also make Chadstone more accessible than ever before for domestic and international visitors, with a new centralised bus interchange and taxi rank, and two extended car parking areas resulting in a total of 10,000 car parks at the centre.
The opening will also unveil what will be one of Australia’s most iconic structures – the gridshell roof – featuring 2,700 unique pieces of glass, spanning up to 42 metres, to create a distinctive light-filled, column-free experience for customers. This world-class architecture will perfectly showcase Chadstone as the premium destination for shopping, entertainment and dining in Australia.
The new dining terrace takes inspiration from around the world and will feature seven new restaurants with wide appeal, some of which will be opening in a shopping centre or outside of Melbourne’s CBD for the very first time. The food destination will host the likes of The Burger Project by Neil Perry, Fonda, Woodstock Pizzicheria and Marae Izakaya. Mr McNaughton added: “This significant project affirms Chadstone’s understanding of what customers need and want in a premium shopping, entertainment and dining destination.”
At completion in mid-2017, the development will feature more than 100 new retailers including:
Some of the world’s most iconic luxury designer stores including Valentino, Celine and Loewe
Premium international stores including The Kooples, Reiss and Michael Kors
An exciting collection of flagship stores under one roof, with brands including Sephora, H&M and Uniqlo
Tesla Motors first integrated Melbourne retail dealership
Two new dining precincts, housing an array of local and international flavours, and
Australia’s only LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre.
Chadstone is co-owned by Vicinity Centres and Gandel Group.
